Custom domain

A custom domain replaces the default ForgeSend-hosted URL for an Agency Group's client portal with a domain your agency already owns — for example portal.youragency.com. It's set once per Agency Group and shared by every client workspace under that group; there's no separate domain per client, and no separate setup to repeat for each one.

Requesting a domain

Open the Custom domain panel for the Agency Group and enter the domain you want to use. Submitting the form doesn't activate anything yet — it claims the hostname for this Agency Group and moves it into the DNS verification step below.

Point a domain you own at this group's client portal — e.g. portal.youragency.com.

Only one domain can be claimed per Agency Group at a time, and it's shared by every client workspace under that group — not set individually per client. If another agency has already claimed the same domain, requesting it is rejected until that agency removes it.

Verifying ownership

Once requested, the panel shows a TXT record to add at your domain's DNS provider — proof that you control the domain before ForgeSend will route any traffic to it.

Pending DNS verification

Add this TXT record to verify ownership

Record name

_forgesend-verify.portal.youragency.com

Value

Add the record exactly as shown, using your DNS provider's normal interface for adding a TXT record. ForgeSend checks for it automatically every 2 minutes — there's nothing to click or confirm on ForgeSend's side once it's added; the panel moves to the next step by itself as soon as the check finds a match.

Routing traffic

With ownership confirmed, the panel swaps the TXT record for a CNAME record — this is the one that actually routes traffic for your domain to ForgeSend.

Provisioning

Point this domain at ForgeSend with a CNAME record

Record name

Value

domains.forgesend.cloud

Once this CNAME resolves, setup finishes automatically — there's no manual approval step on ForgeSend's side. Domains typically go live within a few minutes to under half an hour, depending on how quickly your own DNS provider propagates the change.

Removing a domain

Remove domain clears the claim on the spot — there's no waiting period and no separate teardown step to wait on. The Agency Group's client portal reverts to its default ForgeSend-hosted URL immediately.

Removal has no grace period. The instant a domain is removed, it becomes available for any other agency on ForgeSend to request for themselves — including the exact same hostname you just gave up. If you plan to reuse a domain later, don't remove it until you're ready to re-add it right away.
